James Roderick Sosnicky was born on 23 March 1972 in
Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in Virginia, California, and
Upon graduation from West Point in 1993, Jim Served as a tank platoon leader in
the 1st Infantry Division. After leaving active duty, he got a job as a
country music disc jockey in Frederick, Maryland before moving to New York City,
where he worked for The New York Times and
The Village Voice. In 2001, he
left New York to attend Hertford College,
Oxford, from which he earned an
In 2003, Jim volunteered to return to active duty, arriving in
Baghdad in May of
that year. He has been in the Middle East ever since. In January
2004, Jim was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
